Ted Mason – Another Day, Another Year – Mi5 Recordings (Universal Music Group)

This is off my album, The Road To Mecca. We are lucky more than 4 million people have listened to this, and it is a serious departure from what I did with Modern English. It was released under my own label that I have had for 20 years, Mi5 Recordings (Universal Music Group). The Darbuka is the Arab percussion that I have picked up in the last 15 years working with North African Musicians in Paris. All the instruments are played as are the other songs on my postings of SoundCloud. Real orchestras, sitars, Darbukas, etc. drums, bass, guitars, NO computer corrections – mistakes and all are being heard. I would rather have it organic. On this track, “Another Day, Another Year,” I played bass, guitars, and of course, vocals on this. Basics where recorded in three hours, vocal take was completed on 3rd round. Rather than explain the theme of the song, I believe the lyrics speak for themselves so I have posted them.

Well the news is rather good! And the English have won the war.
And the yanks get the spoils, But the natives are rather sore.
Well the new situation, Leaves a bitter revelation!
And I can’t remember when, which memo I should send.

Another day Another year has gone. It seems like yesterday our king was never wrong! Another day Another year has gone. It seems today, our Queen has been there much too long!
And Our King was never wrong?

Well your news is today. And you’ll soon have to pray.
When you’re Golden Arches zap, Every brain cell in decay.
Well the fools run the shop. And they’re working round the clock.
So don’t make such a fuss. Cause we’re all in such a rush!

Another day Another year has gone. It seems like yesterday our king was never wrong! Another day Another year has gone. It seems today, our Queen has been there much too long!
And Our King was never wrong?

Well I know all the news. That’s sold in every bin.
Tailored to my instincts, And every vice and sin.
Well the new situation, Leaves a bitter revelation.
And I can’t remember when, which memo I should send?
